Below is the CDC H1N1 situation update


Vaccines are the most important tool we have to prevent influenza. Had the pandemic occurred earlier last school year, the seasonal flu vaccine would most likely have contained protection against H1N1. The H1N1 vaccine is made in exactly the same way and in the same facilities as seasonal influenza vaccine.


Live vaccine, attenuated intranasal vaccine (or LAIV) is sprayed into the nose. This sheet describes the live, attenuated intranasal vaccine .


Inactivated vaccine (vaccine that has killed virus in it) is injected into the muscle, like the annual flu shot. This sheet describes the inactivated vaccine.
